EDITOR’S CHOICE BLH NOBEL’S G5 ELECTRONICS BLH NOBEL THE VERY LATEST ADDITION TO THE G5 RANGE The G5 series is the latest generation of BLH Nobel weighing instruments. BLH Nobel is a global leader in the process weighing force measurement market and a brand of Vishay Precision Group, Inc. (VPG). The G5 series are all built on a new, future-proof hardware platform, the units feature extensive communication capabilities to support a wide range of applications in chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries and are also used in factory automation and high dynamic force systems. BLH Nobel’s G5 electronics are now available in three different mounting options: a panel mount version for 24 V DC or 115/230 V AC operation, a DIN Rail mount version and DIN Rail mount with OLED display for 24 V DC operation. The new G5 DIN Rail Mount with Display (G5-RMD) offers a user interface for quick and easy set up and visibility of live process data such as weight and status interface – in the plant, right where the operator needs it. 16 PECM Issue 40 The web server embedded to any product version enables remote operation from any PC or mobile device with Ethernet connection. Weight and status are displayed alongside other parameters and diagnostic information via a HDMI or user-friendly operator interface. The G5 family of instruments offers many industrial communication interfaces, including Modbus/TCP, Ethernet/IP, FTP, HTTP, ProfibusDP, PROFINET, DeviceNet, ControlNet, and Modbus RTU as well as the traditional RS485 and analog outputs. The user can configure the G5 digital I/O signals according to his discrete control requirements. Software upgrades can quickly be made in the field using an SD card. Parameter backup and restoration is made easy via the G5’s USB port, SD card, and internal memory. The G5 and G4 instrument families are fully compatible with BLH Nobel’s manufactured load cells, weigh modules and junction boxes to create complete weighing solutions or integrate with larger process systems.
