FLUID HANDLING
ROTAFLOW THANK ALL INVOLVED
IN SAVING WHALEY BRIDGE
Fluid
Carrying
Rotaflow is based in the
Derbyshire town of Whaley
Bridge. The town was evacuated
by emergency services due
to the Toddbrook Reservoir
overflowing, which caused
significant structural damage to
the retaining wall of the dam.
Flexibility
The wall repairs ran alongside a
multi-service operation to reduce
the water levels in the dam by

worked around the clock to
complete the operation.
A combined effort between
the Police, Fire crews, Mountain
Rescue, Canal & Rivers Trust, the
Environment Agency, the Army
and the RAF ensured the area was
safely evacuated and the public
were well informed.
Local companies supplied
aggregate and built makeshift
roads providing access to the
dam. Residents filled sandbags
and local groups provided
survival equipment and cooking
facilities. Schools and the council
made sure all were catered for.
The reservoir had to be drained to
half of its capacity, reducing flood
