urinal flush control valves (DFDs) have been
installed in The Triangle’s 20 washrooms by M &
E sub-contractor Allied Mechanical Services, the
main contractor being construction company
Bouygues.
The Direct Flush automatically flushes the
individual urinal after use, using as little as 0.5
litres of water each time. This ensures high levels
of hygiene from the minimum volume of water.

Velocity Calibration Services Major expansion delivers biggest
facility in Yorkshire Material and Component
Testing at SATRA
The Young Calibration UKAS accredited
laboratory (Lab 0604) makes the transition to
ISO/IEC 17025:2017, whilst further continuing to
offer world leading flow calibration services. The
latest UKAS calibration schedule offers ultra-low
flow water infusion and leak calibrations from 1
ml/hour up to a 1000 l/min on DN80 flowmeters.
The UKAS accredited air flow rig covers 1 cc/min
to 1250 l/sec allowing flowmeters up to 300 mm
diameter to be accommodated within the flow
calibration rig. A leading galvanizing business has completed
a major expansion that increases capacity by 50
per cent. Humber Galvanizing Ltd has installed a
new bath to create the biggest facility of its kind
in Yorkshire. The accredited wind tunnels continue to offer
world leading measurement uncertainty for
UKAS air velocity calibrations on pitot, thermal,
vane, cup, omni-spherical and ultrasonic
anemometers encompassing one of the widest
available air velocity ranges of 0.05 to 80 m/s. General manager Richard Speake said: “This
is a major investment that will increase the
number and size of jobs we’re able to do. It will
ensure we’re ‘Fit for the Future’ and provides the

‘triple acid’ tanks and made a string of changes
to improve health and safety in a multi-million
pound project. The new galvanizing bath is 7.5m
long, 1.2m wide and 2.7m deep.
