MEASUREMENT & MONITORING Sensor for testing DC motors The company PCE Process Control Electronic GmbH has developed a sensor for non-contact testing of DC motors. The residual magnetic field of the pole housing is detected and evaluated. During start-up, the direction of rotation is determined, which is difficult with DC motors without contact to the axis. The direction of rotation can depend both on the polarity of the power supply and on the stator magnetic field. After the run-up, the idle speed is measured. The system also checks for armature faults such as lamella closure and interruption. The results can be read out via an RS 485 interface (I/O standard). An adaptation to further interfaces is planned. www.pce-systems.com HBM Introduces Latest Addition to CFT Piezoelectric Range For applications that require the coverage of a wide measuring range, such as presses with a large force measurement range, HBM – a market leader in the field of test and measurement – has introduced the new CFTplus force transducer, which features improved accuracy and calibration in three measuring ranges.  Designed for industrial applications, particularly within the manufacturing sector, the new CFTplus series is calibrated for the measuring ranges; 1%, 10% and 100%, and can be used immediately on installation. Featuring a high degree of rigidity and a rugged design, the latest series is particularly useful for use in adverse environments.  Elimination of drift, which is often seen as a frustrating effect, is also dramatically reduced, providing the user with more accurate results. Test and measurement expert HBM has expanded its range of data acquisition modules with the SomatXR MX1609TB-R.  This amplifier is part of the industry standard’s SomatXR family, and provides engineers with a reliable and flexible solution to measuring temperature, particularly in harsh operating conditions.   With 16 channels and a sample rate of up to 100 kS/s per channel, the MX1609TB-R is shock resistant with an IP54/IP67 degree of protection, which makes it ideal for use in measurement tasks within a wide range of applications, such as mobile measurement and tests with off-highway vehicles, stationary measurements, tests on infrastructures and field tests in harsh environments. Our MD, Adrian Bundy says; “Since acquiring our Matsuura the appetite that it has for machined parts is amazing, incorporating multiple operations in one footprint making us more cost effective and saving our customers money”. We utilize the 10-pallet system to give us flexibility and increased unmanned capacity, which allows us to give our customers the best price, delivery and quality. This has been achieved at the UK manufacturing site with the addition of a 4th production cell. DIN11864 and 11853 unions were developed to meet the exacting needs of the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. This range of unions has been developed from the three most common systems used in the hygienic and sanitary industries; namely the “Aseptic” screwed union to DIN11864-1; the “Aseptic” flange union to DIN11864-2 and the “Aseptic” clamp union to DIN11864-3. Using an innovative single-component liquid polyurethane foam sealing system and machine technology Techsil’s bespoke FIPG contracting service is the economical and reliable solution for replacing labour intensive peel and stick gasket applications. For further information on Techsil’s FIPG contracting service please contact our technical specialists on technical@techsil. co.uk or go to www.techsil.co.uk/resource- centre/form-in-place-foam-gasket-service/ Available with optional lengths to suit both orbital and manual welding, these unions have been designed to match tube and pipe specifications to DIN11866 Table A (DIN11850); DIN11866 Table B (ISO 1127) & DIN11866 Table C (ASME BPE).
