MACHINING & MACHINERY NEW SALES TECHNICIAN APPOINTED AT MASTER TOOL SERVICES has increased and the department’s service capability has expanded. The department has also held its own stand at exhibitions such as the Safety Health + Environment (SHE) Show, exhibiting its solutions to power tool safety issues such as Hand Arm Vibration management. To support growth in its Master Tool Services (MTS) department, Master Abrasives has appointed Mike Timofte as its new MTS Sales Technician, offering support to local industry and collection of tools for repair and service. Mike joined Master Abrasives last year as a Technician in MTS, carrying out services such as tool repair and on-site Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV) testing for customers. He will continue to do this alongside his new role to support local industry, offering collection of tools for repair and service. This service will be available to customers in nearby regions, covering areas such as Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Mike will also be offering technical support for tools and services, with customers able to reach out to him directly by email or mobile number. Carl Lewington, Operations Manager and Manager for MTS, explained: “Mike has a strong knowledge and experience of electric and pneumatic power tools. This along with our range of reputable electric and pneumatic tool brands means he’s well equipped to give advice and recommendations to customers for their applications. So whether it’s aerospace, automotive, foundries or other industries, we can offer the best tools, repairs, service and training according to the needs of the workforce.” MTS has grown significantly since it was re- launched as a separate business unit in 2013 and moved to a larger location on-site to expand its capacity. Since then, the team has multiplied, the range of tool brands offered PUWER inspections by machinery safety experts Nickel alloys cut three times faster Machinery can be hazardous, hence the legal requirement for periodic PUWER inspections to ensure the safety of workers and compliance with health and safety regulations. Procter Machine Safety’s experts understand the regulations and standards, plus they have extensive knowledge of machinery across many different industries. They can therefore inspect your machines in the knowledge of what safety measures should be present and when any residual risks are ‘as low as reasonably practicable’. The TÜV-certified machinery safety specialists can inspect individual, linked or multiple machines at one or more sites. At the end of the PUWER inspection an illustrated report is presented, showing any non- compliances. Specialist stockholder serving the oil and gas industry, Howat Group, perhaps better known by its trading names AMS, ESS and Ancon, has installed a 14th Kasto bandsaw - a KASTOwin pro AC 5.6 - at its new centre in Barnsley, which opened at the end of 2018. If requested, advice and support can be provided to help make machines PUWER- compliant. www.machinesafety/puwer The facility represents an investment of more than £2 million by owner Malcolm Howat and has been timed to coincide with the oil and gas sector’s nascent emergence from a downturn that started in 2014. Half of the sum went on acquiring a freehold, 60,000 sq m property on Cortonwood Drive in the Dearne Valley area of the city. The remainder was spent on infrastructure, materials handling equipment, two further Kasto bandsaws and refurbishment of all the older models, some of which have been in service since the 1990s and still cut accurately. www.kasto.com 134 PECM Issue 38 MTS has long enjoyed close relationships with top power tool manufacturers like Atlas Copco, Dotco, Dynabrade and Cleco, allowing the company to offer a large range of power tools.
