EDITOR’S CHOICE SciQuip Ltd RRC New Courses for 2019 Knight Optical SciQuip Ltd supplies a wide range of testing and production equipment to industrial, manufacturing and R&D customers through- out the UK. The range includes Drying Ovens, Furnaces, Test & Climatic Chambers, Ultrasonic’s, Circulation Chillers, Balances, Shakers/Stirrers/Mixers, Sterilization & Depyrogenation Chambers, Freeze Dryers and Centrifugation equipment. For 2019 RRC are introducing two new NEBOSH Courses to its Dubai classroom schedule along with expanding the courses offered in its UK centres. Sapphire (Al203) has exceptional structural integrity and ability to operate up to 2030 degrees Celsius. Its high mechanical strength and thermal, chemical and scratch resista\nce makes it an incredibly desirable material for use in harsh conditions. The company is carbon neutral and leads the sector in terms of environmental awareness, recycling and sustainability. As a UKAS accredited ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015 company customers are assured of the very highest quality and levels of service. SciQuip is an approved public sector framework supplier. Launched in London in mid 2018, RRC’s NEBOSH HSE Certificate in H&S Leadership Excellence course has proven exceptionally popular and for 2019 we have scheduled further courses in Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester & Newcastle.  We are also introducing the course to our Dubai centre with the first course in February, and a further 4 dates scheduled throughout the year. Following the growing interest in environmental training in the Middle East region we are also introducing the NEBOSH International Environmental Diploma to our Dubai centre with the first course starting in the Autumn of 2019. This is a three week course and has been structured to incorporate the NEBOSH Environmental Certificate to allow students to gain two qualifications. www.sciquip.co.uk www.rrc.co.uk SciQuip provides its customers with full before and after-sales support with fully trained product/application specialists together with factory trained service engineers using original manufacturer parts. Sapphire windows have the capability of serving vital purposes in mission-critical applications, especially when used alongside sapphire lenses, prisms and blanks. They can be made thinner than other crystals due to the structural integrity of the materials. Choose from random cut sapphire for any application other than UV, or C-cut or Z-cut for UV applications, all available from stock. Fluorescence free sapphire windows are available as a custom made item only. For bespoke requirements, our technical experts are able to manufacture to your specification. www.knightoptical.com GAS METER TEST RIG SOLUTIONS FOR EVERYONE When a client approached Chell Instruments with a specific challenge, our engineering team got straight to work. Using our industry- leading expertise and experience, the ideal solution was developed to satisfy their gas meter calibration requirements. Now, a version of the Gas Meter Test Rig (GMTR) we created is available from Chell for everyone wishing to test and calibrate domestic gas meters, including manufacturers and calibration houses. The GMTR is a multi-channel benchtop system that allows testing of the functionality, accuracy, stability and leak integrity of up to four domestic gas meters simultaneously. It is compatible with older ‘diaphragm’ type positive displacement meters, as well as the newer ‘smart’ ultrasonic meters. 34 PECM Issue 37 As you’d expect, the device contains high accuracy flow, pressure and temperature instrumentation and can generate any flow set-point up to 12,000 litres per hour while maintaining a safely low outlet pressure to prevent damage to the gas meters under test. For valid error comparisons, the combined mass flow, pressure and temperature measurements can be used to calculate the true volumetric flow rate at each flowrate. The system consists of a custom enclosure and a triple-range flow manifold with pneumatically operated isolation valves. Pipework and custom gas meter outlet blocks allow volumetric flow conversion for up to 4 gas meters in series. The system has a mass flow error of 0.4%Rdg +0.2%FS and also contains 4 pressure transducers and 4 PRT temperature probes, all connected to custom fixtures in the interconnecting pipework. The on-board display modules provide mass flow control and display, pressure and temperature measurement display and valve control. Remote monitoring and control is also possible via the built-in webserver or with the user’s own software. The GMTR is supplied with all parameters calibrated with ISO17025 certification in our UKAS accredited calibration laboratory and is the latest flexible addition to our range of gas meter test systems, adaptable to each customer’s needs. www.chell.co.uk
