government environmental
legislation
In the October budget, Chancellor Philip
Hammond announced the introduction of a
tax on plastic packaging that uses less than
30% recycled content. The new Retran®
product supplied by Bell has a 70% recycled
content which more than satisfies the planned
legislation. This material is used to produce
Retran® tubing, PET folding cartons, clampacks
and formed inserts.
Retran® is available in a standard range so
great prices with no tooling or origination
costs. Many of the standard sizes are kept in
stock so delivery times are really quick.

The MTC – training the next
generation of engineering
technicians Easy access to training materials
and simulation helps engineers
be more effective in their daily
activities
The Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre
(AMTC), on the Manufacturing Technology
Centre campus at Ansty Park in Coventry, is
trebling the number of apprentices it trains.
The industry-leading centre, sponsored by
Lloyds Bank, is to provide training for 300
high quality apprentices a year by 2020.
AMTC apprentices are trained though a mix of
traditional skills complimented with modules
of advanced manufacturing and are exactly
what manufacturing industry is looking for
to fill the high-tech jobs of the future. AMTC
apprenticeships have the advantage of not
being company or sector-specific, so the
result is a fully-rounded apprentice capable of
filling the most demanding of manufacturing
and engineering positions. The apprentices
are fully tutored in work behaviours and
engineering basics, but are also exposed to the
latest manufacturing technology.
