The future of radar control innovation
continues to take shape at Magnetrol —
the same company that, in 1998, was the
first to introduce 2-wire, loop powered,
guided wave radar to industrial liquid level
applications.
Since then, Magnetrol has significantly
enhanced radar technology performance
with the Eclipse Model 706 guided wave
radar (GWR), Pulsar Model R96 (6 Ghz)
and Pulsar Model R86 (26 Ghz) pulse-
burst through air radar (TAR) transmitters
– a complete radar offering representing
cutting-edge advances that improve
accuracy, reliability and safety for the
majority of continuous level control
applications.
Innovative Functionality
Most radar level control instrumentation
in the market today offers a similar set of
basic functional parameters. The smart,
user-friendly design of the Eclipse Model
706 GWR, Pulsar Model R96 and Model
R86 radar transmitters, however, deliver
unprecedented performance standards.
- Advanced Diagnostics and Unattended
Echo Capture
Because the echo curve is critical to
troubleshooting, Magnetrol radar units
automatically capture the echo curve
based on time (using an on-board clock)
or diagnostic event. With the ability to
store multiple echo curves in memory,
operators can identify and address problems
immediately, to optimizing performance and
reducing downtime.

reliability. The Eclipse Model 706
is SIL Certified as SIL 2/3 capable,
the Pulsar Model R96 radar
transmitters offer an industry-
leading SIL 2 SFF value of
92.7%, and the Pulsar Model
R86 radar transmitters have a
SIL 2 SFF value of 93.2% .
