Northern Manufacturing & Electronics 2017 he North West could arguably be dubbed the manufacturing centre of the UK, generating, as it does, a greater percentage of its GVA from manufacturing than any other region of the UK. Process industries such as pharmabio, food & beverage and oil & gas, plus a sizable chunk of the UK’s aerospace and automotive industry, make the region a hotbed of manufacturing activity. Situated right at its centre in Manchester, the Northern Manufacturing & Electronics show is a unique showcase of the considerable engineering expertise the region has to offer. T Northern Manufacturing & Electronics 2017 (27th & 28th September, EventCity, Manchester) is the North West’s biggest industrial show, offering not just the opportunity to meet some of the top engineering firms in the UK but also to see the very latest machinery and production technologies from many of the world’s leading manufacturers. Now in its fifth year, the d iverse blend of products, services, mechanical and electronics components in one convenient location gives visitors a great opportunity to solve multiple sourcing issues in a single visit. The show’s location at the heart of one of the UK’s main hubs for aerospace, automotive and public transportation manufacture ensures that it is one of the key UK events for the major machinery manufacturers. Two new machines from Haas Automation make their UK debut at Northern Manufacturing 2017; the new 2017 ST-15 turning centre and DM-2 high- speed drill-mill centre. Yamazaki Mazak has expanded its presence to two stands for 2017, giving live demonstrations of its Variaxis range of 5-axis machining centres. Combining a compact footprint with the ability to offer simultaneous five-axis machining across multiple surfaces, the Variaxis j-500/5X can be used in a variety of sectors, including aerospace and oil and gas. Amada demonstrates press brake technology with its HFE3i 1003 press brake and an innovative touch-screen AMNC 3i interface.
