YOUR PARTNER IN
MODERN METROLOGY
EXPERIENCE
Since developing our first Vernier calipers back
in 1868 we’ve accumulated over 150 years’ of
metrological expertise. Producing the world’s first
digital indicator and microprocessor controlled
roughness measuring instrument, we now hold over
10,000 different products and we continue to drive
the leading edge of innovation in modern metrology.
Our highly trained team operates from 52 countries
across the globe, driving metrological research and
high quality production, whilst supporting our valued
customers.
PRECISION
Our trusted measuring instruments feature in all
manner of prominent processes from automotive and
aerospace manufacturing to biomechanical research
and mechanical engineering.
Wherever precise measurement is required, there
is a Mahr tool for the job. From calipers to highend customised measuring systems, you can rely
on Mahr for low measuring uncertainties and well
manufactured instruments built to last.

SOLUTIONS FOR THE AEROSPACE
INDUSTRY
Precision makes flying safe!
Engines, wings, rudders, flaps, control systems,
chassis, etc., must function absolutely properly during
the flight in order to guarantee the safe transport
of passengers. Only precision-crafted components
function reliably for hours and in almost any
environment.
Global air traffic is rapidly increasing. This means
that the requirements for lower exhaust emissions
and thus lower fuel consumption are increasing
constantly. In addition, the reduction of aircraft noise
in urban areas is more vehemently demanded by the
population, which in turn affects the noise emission of
engines. Hence suppliers are increasingly feeling the
pressure on the costs of major aircraft manufacturers.

PECM Issue 19
Constant tension between innovation and cost
pressure; along with the high demands for reliability,
metrology from Mahr provides solutions for R&D,
measuring rooms and 100% control in manufacturing.
Under development phase, surface structures are
carefully examined and new lighter materials are
increasingly being tested and implemented in order to
minimize frictional resistance.
In manufacturing, the challenge is to deliver the
high-quality components error-free to the subsequent
processing or assembly step and avoid costly rework.
In addition to the testing of dimensional parameters;
inspection plays an important role in cracks and
eruptions. Optical measurement methods and
inspection methods can accelerate quality assurance
and make it independent of subjective assessments.
