Brevini provides mobility and lift for mini cranes in Transformers 4 film These winches are also subject to customisation to ensure an exact fit within a particular application T Our relationship has become stronger due to our abilities to create synergies during complex, innovative projects and to provide customized solutions he longstanding relationship between Brevini and Ormet, an Italian manufacturer of lifting and material handling equipment, has reached another milestone with their products featuring in the latest instalment of the Transformers movie franchise. The film features the Jekko mini cranes which use hydraulic winches and track drive systems manufactured by Brevini. The Jekko mini crane range was created by Ormet to provide customers with a range of products that can be manoeuvred into hard to access locations but still have the necessary power to complete a variety of lifting tasks. For many years Brevini has been supplying Ormet with the hydraulic winch drives for integration into its wide range of cranes and lifting systems; more recently it has been providing the track drives as well which provide the driving force for the mini cranes. “Our relationship has become stronger due to our abilities to create synergies during complex, innovative projects and to provide customized solutions”, explains Brevini Power Transmission’s COO Stefano Brevini. The decision to use the Jekko SPD 360 minicrane in several action sequences has made Ormet machines visible outside of their usual and most popular applications in construction, industrial maintenance and agriculture, in fact anytime that large quantities of materials must be safely lifted and moved in a small, cramped space. The WHL range of hydraulic winches is specifically designed to satisfy the needs of OEMs that manufacture stationary or mobile cranes as well as drilling machinery. With 11 models in the standard line up, the winches feature a Brevini planetary reduction gearbox inside the drum; a design that provides a range of capacities from 1,000kg to 8,000kg line pull. These winches are also subject to customisation to ensure an exact fit within a particular application, and to ensure flexible operation with long term reliability. There are also a number of accessories and design options available, such as a grooved drum, rope winding control system and various special coatings to combat the most severe of environments. The Jekko range also uses the CTM series of track drive units, produced by Brevini Fluid Power, and specifically designed for smaller industrial and construction machines. The geared motors feature a single planetary reduction with options for fail safe brakes and motion control valve which can safely control the downhill descent of the machine by creating a controlled braking action. “Thanks to the integration between the different products from the Brevini Group the range of components available to our customers is vast and can satisfy the most innovative needs,” concludes Stefano Brevini. “Seeing them used in scenes from a blockbuster hit like ‘Transformers 4: Age of Extinction’ is certainly a reason to be proud.” www.brevini.co.uk Issue 14 PECM 113
