Altogether about 50 participants were present. Dr Leena Larva, Chair of IPS Commission VI on Peat balneology, medicine and therapeutics, congratulated Professor André-Michael Beer and his colleagues for their great efforts to organise this meeting. Many of us know that peat is not only important for energy, agriculture and climate. It helps in health promotion too. From a scientific point of view, it is not enough that people are happy with the treatment, but notice that they look better after having peat cures. A lot of academic work is needed to show the effectiveness of peat therapy to the other medical doctors.
