The “Jugad” PDG Dr. Bal takes New member’s Induction program to a ‘NEW PEAK’ with - Right Hand - Program W hen it comes to delivering same old thing with a new twist, leave it to P D G D r. B a l Inamdar to risk the experiment. So, say the Rotarians of Dist. 3140. Induction into Rotary is the most memorable moment in a Rotarians life…..Likewise invitation to Rotary and then an entry into Rotary would be the dream moment of many who wanted to join Rotary. There have been umpteen instances when new members are inducted in a much hurried and not so graceful manner. It does not leave any good memory with the new member. Realizing the problem, Dr. Bal, whose unforgettable motivating presentation - “Jugad” at district training assembly, is still fresh in our minds, thought “why not induct new members in a big, grand ceremony, where many clubs come together on a day, and induct all there members” The idea was novel, but full of risks. There were too many if and buts: will clubs agree?, will we have good number of new members to make it a worth while exercise? How will they sit? Will they come in a orderly manner? What if lot of new members don't turn up? Will the function be really graceful? But, if a person gets fearful of failure, then, it would not be Dr. Bal. Planning very careful with his team, a most memorable function, ever, for new members induction was organized by Dr. Bal and his right hand program convener Dr. Arun Chaudhary on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015 at LM Rotary Center, Malad. Each and every aspect of the program was conceived and taken care of, to make it a grand success. The event was led by the Rotary Club of Mumbai West Coast, supported by, Bombay Northwest Malad and co hosted by other 13 clubs District Governor, Subhash Kulkarni graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The Guest of Honor PDG Dr. Deepak Purohit (RID 3131) after hearing the concept, traveled all the way to witness this unique idea. The program was well planned and executed flawlessly keeping following things in mind 1. Proper introduction of new member accompanied by their family members, with their Photograph, Classification, Professional and Personal achievements displayed on Screen . 2) Induction at hands of District Governor, in presence of PDG of another District as Guest of Honor. 3) Personal memento in form of a photograph printout on the spot District Finance Secretary, Rtn. Dilip Mulay very gracefully read out the induction speech. Another highlight of the program was the recognition of the Introducer and the Clubs membership Director…. a point many a times forgotten. They were present on the dais when the induction was being done. Knowing the fact that only 20% Rotarians introduce new members, this was a step extended to recognize and honor those introducing and to enthuse others to do same. The program also asked the Clubs to assign a Mentor, to guide, educate, groom and imbibe new members into Rotary. Again considering that many new Rotarians leave Rotary in first 3 years, this move will definitely help in Membership assimilation and retention. Some senior Rotarians like R Ѹ
