Foundation, we know that the result will
be positive. The poorest parts of the
world are the places where the local
clubs have the fewest resources. By
giving to our Foundation, we bring help to
the places where Rotary is needed the
most ---and fulfill the Foundation's
mission of Doing good in the world.

Lateral New Ideas and Concepts for
Building our Nation
T
he OCV of Mumbai North End did not remain a routine taks, when 15
year old Raseeka Subramanian, president of Interact club of R.N.
Podar School, expressed her and her group’s lateral thoughts on what is
so important for poor and rich alike.
In her words:
LITERACY, is no doubt a stakeholder in our nation's development.
Our nation can be truly progress only if all its citizens are well-informed and aware,
irrespective of their social and economic status.
As members of the Interact Club, we are currently engaged in a discussion on the work
ability of a Financial Literacy and Consumer Awareness project. The main objectives
of this programme will be to teach community helpers about money and its various
functions besides building on their basic knowledge that will help them to make an
informed choice as a consumer.
Key points such as being able to have an income-expenditure statement, balancing
expenses and opting for cost-effective solutions, writing cheques and so on.
Teaching functional English, being able to read numbers and M.R.P's , perhaps even
creating a ready-reckoner for the same are some of the ideas shaping up our sleeve.
We believe in youth power and in our ability to make things happen.
