The SkinPen
In my desperate search for the fountain of youth without pain or major downtime, my aesthetician, Angie, recommended that I try the SkinPen, an in-office
micro-needling device that is FDA approved for facial use to treat and improve
the skin. Here’s the scoop from a real user:

The process began with me getting a
thorough cleanse and then a thick coating of numbing gel all over my face—
think that gel that they put inside your
mouth prior to a filling. About 15 minutes later, Angie started work on my
face. The handheld SkinPen reminded
me of a sonic toothbrush in terms of
noise level. With gloved hands, Angie

swept the device—which has 12 small
needles that both rotate and puncture
the skin—across my face in sections.
The pain was minimal, although it
stung when she got near the border of
the numbing gel. She then went back
over areas we wanted to target: fine
lines around the eyes and mouth and
pigment on my cheeks and forehead.
