ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Holly Hollingsworth Phillips is a residential interior designer and owner of The English Room in Charlotte . Her style is elegant , eclectic , and colorful , with designs ranging from the super modern to very traditional . Holly ’ s love of color , pattern , and layering of old and new can be seen in all her work . She loves the mixing the tradition of the past with the modern style of the future . Holly ’ s mother , Nancy Hollingsworth , is a well-known interior designer , now retired . Holly ’ s early design experience includes Alexandra Stoddard and Sotheby ’ s , both in New York City , and with the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center . She lived in London while attending Sotheby ’ s 17th / 18th century decorative arts program and also completed The Winter Institute at Winterthur . After working for Travis & Company in Atlanta , Holly joined her mother full time at the English Room in 1999 . She has a degree in Art History from Rollins College and a degree in Interior Design from the American College . Holly ’ s work has been featured in Southern Living , Charlotte Magazine , QC Exclusive , Charlotte Design & Decor , Southpark Magazine , and Better Homes & Gardens as well as online features in other publications .
