GARDENS The front door of the home is flanked by sago palm and fig ivy topiaries, and window boxes on both levels add to the Southern charm. A central fountain, located in front of the entrance, includes a small cherub lovingly covered in fig ivy. The fountain, given to the husband by his grandmother, Amie Woo (who immigrated from China), is a cherished family favorite. Although garden maintenance in the winter is minimal, as the seasons progress the warmth and tropical climate provide a perfect atmosphere for the boxwoods and Podocarpus to thrive. It is a sizable chore to keep these fresh and manicured. SPRING 2016 19
