BEAUTY

For your teenager

Urban Decay ’ s The Naked Palette ( original and Naked 2 ) is an eye shadow lover ’ s dream . Chances are , the teenager on your list who loves makeup is a YouTube aficionado , and this is a favorite among the beauty vloggers . I secretly use my teenager ’ s Naked colors when she isn ’ t home . So versatile .

For your mother-in-law

When I worked in cosmetics , the “ I can ’ t see anymore ” problem was one I heard frequently , especially when it came to eye makeup . The Big Eyes Mirror is a great solution and really works without your glasses on . The small gooseneck style mirror is perfect for travel .

For your neighbor

I love Santa Maria Novella ’ s potpourri . One of my favorite magazine editors , Deborah Needleman ( formerly of Domino ), recommended it . It is herbal and fresh without being cloying or overpowering . A great little gift that you wouldn ’ t buy yourself . It ’ s the perfect gift for the delightful person who loans you an egg , an onion , or printer paper at 10 o ’ clock at night .

Sara Happ ’ s Lipslip is a divine lip balm . It is so luxurious and creamy . And not to mention that it has the most adorable packaging for holiday gift-giving . This is a splurge , but you ’ ll enjoy that little moment of indulgence each time you use it .

I love , love , love getting a candle as a hostess gift . Bottles of wine are great , but they usually get tossed in with the rest and are forgotten . For me , a candle is such a treat . At the holidays , I love a citrus candle , such as Nest ’ s Grapefruit . It reminds me of the years when we received a basket of Florida citrus as a gift . It has a clean , distinctive scent and is not as ubiquitous as a holiday candle . Priced well , these candles can be pulled out for a “ whoops , I totally forgot to get a gift ” moments .
