Ahhh …

WRITTEN BY Jane Mekik
Need to escape the hustle and bustle ? Settle down and grab a bite at one of my favorite eating establishments . Heck , why not try them all ?
As a Los Angeles native who grew up picking out Christmas trees in balmy 72 degree weather , nothing in the world says ’ tis the season more to me than December in New York City . That bite in the air , the bustling shops , those lights … it ’ s magical . As we all know , however , the holidays are often the most hectic time of the year : Office parties , relatives , decorations and wish lists for Santa “ cc ’ d ” to you .
For those chaotic days when you ’ re a wee bit worn out , we have the perfect solution : Four gorgeous farm-to-fork restaurants guaranteed to satisfy your stomach and soothe your soul . Don ’ t blame us if you catch yourself humming a holiday carol or two on the way home . Cheers !

If you can ’ t open a farm right next to your restaurant , the next best thing would be to open your restaurant right beside the Union Square Greenmarket ( one of the city ’ s best farmer ’ s markets ). Famed restaurateur Danny Meyer had the same thought when he founded the Union Square Cafe almost 30 years ago . Serving up Italian fare with a decidedly modern- American bent , you can be sure that the menu here incorporates locally grown and seasonally harvested ingredients . When it ’ s cold outside , come here to warm up with a nice glass of red and a generous helping of ricotta gnocchi .
