Something Special for the Holidays
This is a loose framework for a Hot Toddy , one that blends beautiful warm flavors together . This recipe can be refashioned in an infinite number of ways using : a quality loose-leaf tea , spices or flavor additives that compliment said tea , a sweetener , a liqueur , and a base liquor . Try green tea , mint , cucumber , ginger liqueur , and gin .
Hibiscus tea , lemon zest , cointreau , and vodka . There are so many possibilities to make this cocktail classic your own .
THE COMFORTABLE EARL serves 4
Combine in the bottom of a 34 ounce French press :
4 tablespoons loose-leaf Earl Grey tea 12 green cardamom pods , burst 2 star anise 4 whole cloves 1 stick cinnamon Orange slice , quartered 12 whole allspice
Combine in the bottom of a mug : 1 tablespoon raw honey ( add more or less to taste )

⁄ 2 ounce honey liqueur

⁄ 4 ounce spiced rum
3
⁄ 4 ounce dark rum
Maggie Rupert , mixologist from the Mother Earth Group , is re-introducing the Hot Toddy . To ring in the festive mood for the evening , guests are greeted with a Hot Toddy .
Heat four cups of water to boiling and add to french press . Let steep for four minutes and press . Pour over contents of mug and stir to combine . Garnish with orange twist . Serve .
