The UN should play its role , as an organization in which the participating countries have been committed since its establishment in 1954 , to maintain peace through international cooperation and collective security . And while the UN for the first time due to the Korean crisis voted in the plenary ( even from countries in war ) the Olympic Truce , a few days later , Turkey violated the Truce , which it had just signed . Without a reaction from the UN , Turkey launched aggressive acts in the Aegean and followed the new multinational raids in Syria . The winners of this Euro-Mediterranean and Eastern crisis are the arms sales companies and the xenophobic streams that feed on poverty , death , nationalism and the extreme far right .
Is needed a movement , linked with the World Social Forum , which will take advantage of existing international peace movements , the International Peace Bureau , the Peace of Peace , the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons ( ICAN ), the Nobel Prize in 2017 , the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation , and all other initiatives at International , European and National level .
We believe that there is a need for a new peaceful , anti-war , anti-imperialist and antinationalist democratic movement to be developed of citizens and people of the European and Mediterranean region , which : 1 ) Will stop the raids and the war in Syria 2 ) Will denounce the options of racism of the divided nationalism and wars in trade , transnational and international relations 3 ) Will promote the values of friendship , fair and equal trade and cultural coexistence and cooperation of the people in the interest of present and future generations on the basis of human rights , democracy , the international law and towards achieving the goals of sustainable UN development .
