PROCESS OF PEACE EDUCATION
“Harmony and peace . . . Let things slowly grow. Rome was not built in a day.”
- Swami Vivekananda.
Peace education is a continuous and life long process which consist of three A’s.
(i) Awareness (ii) Analysis and (iii) Actions
Awareness - An important starting point in peace education is the awareness of global problems, the
need for peace and the truth that life is dependent.
Analysis - Analysing the various facts and situations and developing positive attitudes towards
peaceful coexistence, democratic ideals and solidarity is another important aspect of peace education.
Actions - Peace education cannot be passive or neutral, it must be prepared to take up difficult
political questions. The individuals have to be trained to confront the society, discern the problems
and solve them. Practicing and action are a part of the learning process.
