THIS BOOK IS book three in the series Insights on Bridge . The material is not difficult . What it includes are problems that you are likely to encounter on a weekly basis . The Insights series will help with those hands . The material and advice are sound . Sadly , many players are hit with advice from others . All well-intended . But rarely useful .
If you have books One and Two in this series , you should feel a sense of something good happening . Problems that were difficult two years ago should be easier to handle now .
I ’ d like to make a suggestion . When you read one of these articles , pay attention to the facts as they come up .
WHEN DECLARING :
If someone shows up with a singleton , say to yourself that West has five cards in that suit headed by the Q10 and East has one small card in that suit . In time , you should be able to remember that their cards were Q10832 facing a singleton 6 .
If someone passes and then shows up with two aces and a king , consider that he is not likely to have another queen or king or ace . Noting things like this is crucial to later decisions .
Here ’ s an example of how you can determine the layout of a suit they have led . It ’ s one of many .
