2
The phenomenon Djerbahood takes a new impulse in the streets of Djerba . Now an international reference for urban art lovers , this exceptional artistic adventure continues its evolution and delivers new masterpieces ...

For a few months , Djerba is once more the stage for unique artistic performances . It is within the historic village of Erriadh that many street artists are quietly working as part of the famous Djerbahood project . Introduced in 2014 by Mehdi Ben Cheikh , director of the Parisian gallery Itinerrance , this unprecedented experience in Tunisia has revolutionized access to art , making of the picturesque village a true open-air museum with international influence . With more than 250 works of 100 street artists of 30 different nationalities , Erriadh quickly became a favorite tourist destination for urban art lovers .

Seven years later , 60 talented Tunisian and foreign street artists are pursuing the Djerbahood experience as part of the European program Tounes Wejhetouna ( Tunisia our destination ). This year the program is enriched with a new dimension : building a bridge between urban art and local crafts . Artists and craftsmen are thus associated to enhance the rich historical and cultural heritage of Erriadh , a peaceful village with a multi-millennial history and a unique architecture , where tolerance between the three monotheistic religions has always reigned . In addition to the work of restoration carried out on the facades where the new artworks are installed , new supports designed by local craftsmen offer a wide technical field to the artists and offering a real creative dimension to the project . In addition to the work of restoration carried out on the facades where the new artworks are installed , new supports designed by Djerbian craftsmen offer a wide technical field to the artists and have created a genuine space starting from large mural frescoes to jars decorated with Arabic and Hebrew calligraphy , without forgetting the metal creations and transfer on stoneware produced by Somocer Group ; the new version of Djerbahood promises beautiful surprises ! So , if you ’ re visiting Djerba , make sure you wander through the alleys of Erriadh : you may be lucky enough to witness the creation of one of Djerbahood ’ s works ... The experience will continue until 2022 . I
