Dr . Gaetan Lavalla in his President ’ s Address in 1997
The establishment of PDA ’ s new web site has opened an exhilarating , new pathway for communication with our members . This electronic age , which some of us may think of as strange and incomprehensible , enables us to convey and disseminate information almost instantaneously . Consumers may now connect with PDA and benefit from our posted information ; and we can now communicate directly and swiftly with legislators . It could very likely change the way we do business . Perhaps , one day , every officer , every delegate and alternate delegate will be linked electronically and the House of Delegates ’ sessions , Reference Committee hearings , and voting will be accomplished without the need for any of us to leave our homes or offices . New policies can be enacted immediately ; additional House sessions to decide upon new programs will cause no major disruption of association activity . The possibilities are probably endless , and they definitely are exciting .
