Just Showing Up
Show Up More Often
One of my favorite quotes is Woody Allen’s “80% of success
is just showing up”. It’s simple yet so true. It starts with just
getting out of bed in the morning and progresses from there.
There are many meetings I don’t want to go to, phone calls I
don’t want to make, and projects I don’t want to begin. Then
I think about what Woody had to say. Only 20% of what I
actually do or say determines my success. To really be
successful, all I have to do is get off my butt and just show up.
I can at least do that!
I see this rule being applied daily at my fitness center.
The people that show up are getting healthier. The ones
that don’t are not, and when I finally see them they usually
complain about how they’re not making any progress. Hey,
you’ve got to show up to make it. Just walk through the door.
