Following military service, Robertson, an innovator, engineer, and
researcher, persevered through many years designing, developing, and
testing crashworthy fuel systems and other devices with his colleagues.
Robertson-developed technology has saved innumerable lives in civilian
and military aircraft, as well as tanks, Humvees and high-performance
race cars. He and his colleagues also wrote all five editions of the U.S.
Army’s Crash Survival Design Guide.
