THE SUMMER READING PROGRAM is kicking off for kids ages 3 and up . Win awesome prizes for reading 5 , 15 , and 30 hours plus grand prizes for the top two readers ! Registration starts on Tuesday , May 30 . Read to win prizes between Tuesday , June 6 and Saturday , July 22 ( ending at 2pm ). Read at least 15 hours and be invited to a pizza party on Saturday , July 29 at Noon ! In addition to the kidʼs reading program , the library has some great activities lined up for the kids as well ! Please stop in the library or call 928-632-5049 to sign up for activities !
WILDMAN PHIL will amaze and educate on Wednesday June 21 : 2 : 00 – 3:00pm , with all his wonderful wildlife including spiders , snakes , scorpions , lizards , and more ! Itʼs fun for the whole family ! Donʼt forget to register !
Kids , come for the FACE PAINTING on Tuesday , June 27 : 1:00 – 3 : 00pm . Pick your design and have your face painted by our face painting expert , Rhonda ! Donʼt miss out on the fun by registering .
AFTERNOON GAMES , for ages 7 and up , will be held on Tuesdays , June 13 and 20 : 1:00 – 2:30pm . Play a great assortment of board games and on the libraryʼs Wii on our huge 90 ” movie screen . Bring your Wii games to the library to play against others !

Do you like to get books “ hot off-the-press ?” The Friends of the Library are having a SILENT BOOK AUCTION on Thursdays , 1 : 00 – 5:00pm . Up for auction is a book being newly published in July 2017 , Michael Connellyʼs “ The Late Show .” You can win . The minimum starting bid is $ 10 . Your bid will help support the libraryʼs diverse programs and activities . Win this book !
Every Thursday : 1:00 – 5:00 pm , the Friends of the Library are having a continuing “ featured ” BOOK SALE , downstairs in the JW Mitchell Room at the library . Each Thursday , a new selection of gift-quality books will be on display for purchase . Most hardback books are $ 1.00 or more . Most paperback books are $ 0.25 or higher ( Romance and Western paperbacks are only $ 0.10 each ) with the larger “ Trade ” paperbacks starting at $ 0.50 per book . DVD movies , audio books , and coffee table style books are priced at $ 2.00 or more . We have books for kids and teens ! All prices are as marked . Come back each Thursday to find new items to add to your personal library collection !
MOVIES 4 GROWNUPS shows a recently released or a classic DVD movie on our 90 ” movie screen , with a discussion to follow . The library is showing the 2016 movie Rogue One : A Star Wars Story on Tuesday , June 27 : 6:00 – 8:30pm . This electrifying film , starring Felicity Jones , Diego Luna , Alan Tudyk , and Forest Whitaker tells the story of how the Rebel Alliance steals the plans to the Empireʼs ultimate weapon of destruction , the Death Star , just before the events of the original 1977 film . Please register for this great movie in advance by calling 928-632-5049 . We will have popcorn , soda , water , and coffee .
The next IONS COMMUNITY GROUP meeting will be held on Tuesday , June 6 : 10:30 - 12:30 pm . Located across the globe , IONS groups bring together a dynamic collection of people dedicated to exploring noetic topics toward a personal and collective shift in consciousness . The essence of IONS can be summarized as : Science , Spirit , Curiosity , and Community . Our local group has enjoyed experiential presentations on Intention , Coherence , Sound Healing and Toltec Wisdom this year . This is an open meeting and all are welcome .
FANS OF CULTDOM , an activity where you can enjoy movies and TV shows from a variety of different genres including science fiction , action , suspense , mystery , horror , and comedy , is held on Saturdays : 1:00 – 3:30pm . We will have movie style refreshments !

The BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP will have its monthly meeting on Tuesday , June 13 : 9:30 – 10:45am . The group is reading , Midwives , by Chris Bohjalian . On an icy winter night in an isolated house in rural Vermont , a seasoned midwife named Sibyl Danforth takes desperate measures to save a babyʼs life . She performs an emergency cesarean section on a mother she believes has died of stroke . But what if , as Sibylʼs assistant later charges , the patient wasnʼt already dead ? The ensuing trial bears the earmarks of a witch hunt , forcing Sibyl to face the antagonism of the law , the hostility of traditional doctors , and the accusations of her own conscience . The library has limited copies of the book available for checkout . So , come in to the library to pick up a copy of the book , and then come for the discussion . There will be light refreshments . The DEWEY-HUMBOLDT COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD , sponsored by the University of Arizona Superfund Research Program , will be meeting in the library on Wednesday , June 14 : 12 : 30 – 2:00pm . The mission of the board is to identify and strive to address local environmental issues through science , education , and community collaboration . The community is invited to get involved and meet others who are interested in environment and community projects .
