Under Title 18, United States code, Section 1705, it makes it a crime to vandalize, injure, deface or destroy any mail deposited in a box. Violators can be fined up to $250,000 or imprisoned for up to three years for each act of vandalism. Homeowners purchase their mailbox but once installed it is considered Federal Property. Please watch out in your neighborhood for possible illegal activities and report it.
