Colors of the Year

his year Pantone Color Institute
designed not one but two colors of
Lynn Schmitt
the year – Rose Quartz and Serenity.
Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color
Institute says: “Joined together Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer
embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense
of order and peace. Wearing both of these hues at once
is like returning to the weightlessness of your youth. The
combination of a cool and a warm color brings a sense of
balance.”
The Pantone Color Institute, most commonly referred to as
simply Pantone, is the global color author‑ity and provider
of professional color standards for the design industries.
These standards allow the exact same color to be used
across a variety of products as diverse as home furnishings,
paint, cosmetics, clothing, and linens. Pantone also studies
how colors influence people and helps designers utilize col‑
ors more effectively.
In the jewelry world, the following gemstones will take
center stage in 2016:
Rose Quart, from the palest pink to rose.
This gemstone is known as the “love stone” since it is
