Lots of buzz still going on with the new Fair Wages and Healthy Families Act – Prop 206 which was passed by the voters in November and took effect on Jan . 1 . Several business and chamber organizations filed suit to legally challenge Prop 206 . It was denied in Superior Court , they appealed and it was again denied . Unfortunately despite what could be very severe consequences to the business community , employers must abide by the new law . The Prescott Valley Chamber along with the Prescott Area Human Resources Association will host a workshop on February 1 . The program presented by Laura Hamblin , JD , SPHR , SHRM-SCP Attorney and Human Resources Consultant will include information about keeping companies compliant with the minimum wage and mandatory paid sick leave requirements of the new law . It is open to all businesses and no charge to attend and will be held in the Prescott Valley Library auditorium . To register or for more information contact Gloria at the Chamber 928- 772-8857 . Scholarship applications are now available from our Prescott Valley high school counselors or the Chamber .
The Chamber offers two one thousand dollar scholarships to graduating seniors from Prescott Valley schools or residents of Prescott Valley attending other schools or are home-schooled . The scholarships can be used for any accredited university , college or technical school for the fall 2017 semester .
