A Taste of Wine
August is my favorite month. It al-
ways has been. I’m not sure why, but
maybe it has to do with warm tem-
peratures and long days. Or perhaps
it is because it is my birthday month.
For the fun of it, I looked up Virgo
(my sign) and Wine. It turns out that
there is a wine produced called “Virgo
Wine.” It is a Cabernet Sauvignon and was produced by 12
Signs Winery in Lodi, California, in 2009. The wine is mar-
keted as: Grounded, reliable, and practical; earth signs love
the epicurean pleasures in life. Barrel aged for 20 months in
French Oak, this dry Cabernet’s medium firm tannins with
flavors of blackberries and herbs goes perfectly with a meaty
dinner or dark chocolate dessert. How interesting! (Although
I do not know what “epicurean pleasures” are, I am certain
that I love them.)
So let’s talk about Cabernet. First, it is pronounced “Cab-er-
nay Saw-vin-yawn.” It typically has flavors of black cherry,
black currant, baking spices, and cedar. What’s not to like
about those flavors? It is a full-bodied red wine which means
that it is big and powerful. In contrast, light-bodied wines are
