Member Spotlight Ryon McCabe by Nichole Segal Ryon McCabe is a Shareholder and Co-Founder of McCabe Rabin, P.A., in West Palm Beach. He is Board Certified in Business Litigation and focuses his practice on qui tam whistleblower cases, business litigation, and securities cases. Ryon is a past Director of the Palm Beach County Bar Association and has been actively involved with both The Florida Bar and the Federal Bar Association over the years. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and has received many awards and accolades. Ryon grew up in Daytona Beach. From there, he went on to Florida State University for both undergrad and law school. After law school, he clerked for a federal judge in the Northern District of Florida, before moving to Miami, where he worked in civil practice and then later as a federal prosecutor. Ryon eventually made his way north to Palm Beach County where he founded his firm 12 years ago. He and his wife Jennifer have two children in high school and one in college. In addition to being a dedicated advocate for his clients, Ryon is an avid hiker and mountain climber. Ryon started hiking about 10 years ago when he volunteered with his sons’ Boy Scout Troop, eventually becoming Scoutmaster. Since then, he and his sons, both of whom are now Eagle Scouts, have hiked all over Florida. Ryon has also ventured out of the state, hiking segments of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. In the summer of 2016, Ryon’s wife and daughter bravely joined the boys on a 3-day hike that included the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Ryon also hiked an 80-mile trail in New Mexico with his sons during a 10-day Boy Scout trip in 2017. In the summer of 2018, Ryon and fellow West Palm Beach attorney Greg Weiss, climbed Mount Ranier in Washington state. On the first day of this guided, two-day adventure, Ryon and Greg climbed for six or seven hours to a base camp where they slept for the night before waking up at 4:00 a.m. the next morning for the mountain ascent. Ryon described the first day as like spending an entire day climbing a stair case made of snow. In the future, Ryon plans to hike the stretch of the Appalachian Trail known as the 100 Mile Wilderness. This stretch of the Trail through Maine takes 10 days to complete and is considered the most remote section of the Trail. Hiking combines three of Ryon’s hobbies: exercise, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. He also feels like it is one of the only true ways to “disconnect,” since there is no cellular service in many of the areas where he hikes and camps. The worst part of any trip, he says, is the end, when he turns his phone back on and watches hundreds of missed emails load on to his screen.
