TEEN D i s c o u r s e a n d D e c i s i o n s TD Squared TD Squared is a program that brings students into the federal courthouse, during which students engage with volunteer lawyers and the presiding judge. Students actively participate in discussions related to critical life skills, civil discourse and adult decisions with permanent legal consequences. The students then participate as lawyers or jurors in a courtroom simulation using a United States Supreme Court case. Led by Judge United States District Judges Robin Rosenberg and Beth Bloom, the program is presented in a 3-hour period and coordinated through the local Federal Bar Association’s Civics Outreach Committee. A special thank you to our volunteers Michael McAuliffe (moderator), PBCBA Lawyers for Literacy Chair Brad Avakian, Penny Birch, Martin Reeder, Scott Atherton, Joe Bilotta and Kelly Schultz. If you would like to volunteer please contact Kelly Hyman [email protected]. This was the first time that students from Palm Beach State College were involved in the program. The group participated in an abbreviated mock trial type hearing before Judge Rosenberg while learning life skills such as how to engage in civil discussions with their peers and adversaries and how to make wise life decisions.
