How does hunger affect people?
Without proper nutrition, children can’t develop to their fullest potential. Children’s bodies would be more vulnerable to disease and they would have little energy to focus on their studies. Poor nutrition causes nearly half of deaths in children under 5 in developing countries and 1 in 6 children
in developing countries is underweight.
Hunger kills more people
each year than AIDS,
malaria and tuberculosis
combined.Chronic hunger
may result in women being
malnourished and are more likely to be sick, have smaller babies, and die earlier.
They are also more vulnerable to common illnesses: More than two million children die every year from dehydration caused by diarrhea. A malnourished child often lacks the strength to survive a severe case of diarrhea.
