Who we are
We are proud seniors at Bunn High School (Bunn, N.C.). When we graduate in June, 2014, some of us will attend college, while others will join the military or workforce. Wherever we go, we know that we will take the BHS tradition of excellence with us and incorporate that into all our future endeavors.
Oh, yeah...we're good writers, too. We hope you enjoy the next few pages, which contain some of the best examples of our talents as a senior class.
In this issue
In this inaugural issue of our class magazine, we share our creative and expository writing. First, you will see creative pieces that are testament to just how useful imagery can be in 'coloring' one's writing. These short paragraphs utilize strong adjectives, verbs, and unique figurative language to paint various portraits of Grendel, the monster from the Anglo-Saxon epic Beowulf.
You will also see expository writings that celebrate modern heroes who have been recognized by CNN as Hero of the Year nominees. We learned recently that epic heroes like Beowful were frequently glorified and celebrated by their fictional communities. Epic heroes often boasted about themselves, too. Today's heroes are much more humble, though they deserve just as much celebration. What you will see in the second half of this issue are speeches that celebrate the deeds and accomplishments of these heroes. We wanted to extol modern man on a global scale, and we hope our speeches achieved that goal.
Thank you for browsing through these pages. We are very proud of our work, and we hope you enjoy what you see.
