U.F.O #5 – Refreshments and Entertainment This edition of UFOs takes a look at popular beverages and clubs in Macedonia that seemingly lull the bystander, expecting something they only get in imitation. Exhibit #1 – Soda only. My personal favorite is Fantazi. The colleagues always bring this soda along with cookies to celebrate the new baby, job, car, or birthday. But don't think for a minute it has anything to do with the original Fanta. Exhibit #2 – Nightclubs Next up, clubs. While in Gostivar, I chanced to visit a club called Texas. How cool, I could actually sit, watch the Cowboys, listen to country music and dance the 2-step. WRONG! Another pizzaria, turbo folk, and model TV club. All I wanted was to hear a bit of home, and the only Texas this place had was the flag and me. Rumor has it, there's a club in Negotino called Dallas. Oh, and I found a club called New York in Kavadarci. BUT, be wary that the only similarity these places have is in the name and maybe a few pictures. The least they could have done was have a picture of Buddy Holly in cafe Texas. Onto searching some more. Take Cola-Cola for example. At 20 MKD, not a bad soda for 2 liters. But one expecting to buy a Coca-Cola original is in for a different taste and imitation labeling If you should come across any Unidentified Foreign Objects, don't forget to send them in. A few words about the pictures would be nice. That wraps up this edition of UFO #5. Be aware and sure to share yours too.
