Preview of Summer Camps
June 22-26. Healthy Kids Day Camp, held in Kriva Palanka, focuses on teaching
100 young children the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle through content
sessions (diet, dental hygiene), physical
exercise (introduction to kickball!), and
team games (lots of water balloons!). The
camp is run entirely in Macedonian by a
staff of local teenage counselors. PCVs

Leadership Camp is a multi-ethnic
day camp that combines sports,
games, dance, and crafts with
educational topics like women
empowerment, environment,
health, relationships, leadership,
and equality. Seventeen local
women from Gostivar, including
high school students, teachers, and
NGO employees, work together as counselors with the help of Peace Corps
Volunteers Jackie O’Hara and Carolyn Reinhardt.
