Helping to promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of all Americans. Through these efforts, Peace Corps Volunteers work to promote peace in the world and a better understanding among people of different cultures and heritages. In the 45 years since its foundation, countless lives have been touched and changed by Ambassador Milovanovic attended the awards the more than 182,000 Volunteers who have served ceremony and gave the awards to the 3 national in the Peace Corps. Today, nearly 8,000 Volunwinners. teers are serving in 76 countries around the world. The Peace Corps program in the Republic of Macedonia started in 1996 and has seen steady growth in recent years. Currently there are 61 Volunteers serving in 34 communities in Macedonia. Volunteers work in English language education, and assist non-governmental organizations and local governments throughout the country.
