my career change that led me to the Peace Corps .

Paris . Instead of continuing with my graduate studies or developing a career in teaching , I went to be an au pair in Paris for a year and it has been one of the best years in my life .
providing my children with a flat . I didn ’ t plan it , but it happened .
I don ’ t know about most meaningful detour , but the longest , wasted time in my life ( for 12 months ), is when I served military duty . I welcome the abolition of that obligation in the present time and the transformation of the people ’ s army into a non-obligatory professional army .
