__Camp ______ GLOW 2011 by Sarah Goldberg Camp GLOW 2011 was held at Pelister National Park in Bitola. The camp spanned nine days, with a two-day staff training and a seven-day camp for eighty girls from Macedonia. In addition to our campers, twenty young women from across the country worked as Counselors or Counselors in Training, teaching many of the classes offered at camp and helping oversee each camper group of ten girls. Everyone did a phenomenal job at camp this year. Camp GLOW concentrates on offering interactive lessons and classes on subjects such as Civil Society, Women's Issues, the Jenny Acosta, MAK15, with her camper group (photo Environment, Life Choices, Artistic by Sarah Goldberg) Expression, Volunteerism and Leadership. Also offered this year were many elective classes, including Photography, Improv acting, How to Build your own Country!, and even Kickball. Girls from ages 14-18 participated in the classes and recreational activities. They had the opportunity to lead group discussions, create posters and plays discussing important issues, and enjoy the company of girls from different regions and of different ethnicities. This year’s camp also included two theme activities: one half-day was spent with Red Cross Skopje volunteers, teaching the girls First Aid and staging different "emergency" scenarios all over the camp site for our campers to diagnose and treat. The second was a half-day Pirate Themed Field day, courtesy of the indomitable Kate Bennett. Groups competed against each other in games and dressed up as Tie-Dye Pirates.
