The Ugly Duckling and the
Even Uglier American
a tourist town,
A stha’s Vineyard. Ohrid has many faces. Sometimes it’s MarOther times, it’s Atlantic City. Sometimes
people stroll on quay and admire the nearby swans. Other times,
they feed them Stobi Flips. This is a story about the latter.
There are a few swans that call Lake Ohrid home. You’ll probably catch a glimpse of them if you enjoy an afternoon promenade
or coffee along the lake. Typically, these majestic birds go fairly
unnoticed. The people and the swans go about their business
seemingly unaware of each other.
That is until children (of both species) are thrown into
the mix. I was fortunate to witness the
swans out with their
babies one summer
afternoon.
There
were a good number of tourists out
and the ugly little
ducklings attracted
quite a crowd.
The scene very
much reminded me
of visits to the park
with my grandfather
to feed the ducks
when I was young. Having some bread from an unfinished sandwich, and a ????????????????????????????A?????
