The 1975 are a British indie-rock brand orginating from Macnhester. The band started off back when they attended Wilmslow High School, where they played in a band together as teenagers back in 2002.

Matt Healey, vocals, rhythm guitar, Adam Hann, lead guitar, Ross MacDonald, bass guitar. George Daniel, drums.

The 1975 is mainly labeled as a pop rock band.[46][47][48][49] Scott Kerr of AllMusic wrote that the band combined "the dark and youthful themes of sex, love, and fear with ethereal alt-rock music."[50] Healy specifically cites Talking Heads, My Bloody Valentine, and Michael Jackson as musical influences; he states that his greatest influence is the oeuvre of filmmaker John Hughes.[9]

Due to many gigs they did organised by a council worker the brand was formally signed as the 1975. This name choice was inspired by the works of Jack Kerouac beat poetry book that stated '1st June 1975The 1975 classify as a pop rock band. "The dark and youthful themes of sex, love and fear with eternal alt-rock music". -Scott Kerr,' The dark and youthful themes are what will be portaryed in this'. As well as their music, they are also well known for their style. The neon lights have become almost authentic to their branding and the light pink colour can be associated with them. One of Paul Smith's favourite things about this band and one of the key reasons he agreed to do the collaboration was because they go against typical conventions of a boy band. They don't keep up with current trends, they make their own. They are real and address real life matters within their songs.
