I open the school doors and people started cheering . Life had never been this good . I ran down the hall and stopped when I saw Sophia , the prettiest girl in school . “ Hey .” I leaned on the lockers as she closed hers . “ Hey Davis .” She smiled . “ Are you free this …” Beep ! Beep ! Beep ! Beep ! “ I ’ m up . I ’ m up .” I groaned as I smacked my clock and got up . Every night , the same dream . And every morning , the same nightmare . You ’ re probably wondering who I am . I ’ m Davis King , Sophomore , single and human . I ’ m a cool guy , it ’ s just … I ’ m human . I know what you ’ re thinking , whats wrong with being human ? I ’ m supposed to be a monster . Everyone I know are monsters . My parents , brother and sister are centaurs . But I ’ m different . I have a genetic disorder and that makes me human . To answer your question , yes , I ’ m bullied . Who I am shouldn ’ t matter , but in high school , it does . I put on my skeleton Sam t- shirt ; acid washed jeans and ran a comb through my short , messy black hair . “ DAVIS !” Oh no . She smashed my room door and it started to fall on the ground . “ Alicia !” The door hit the ground with a thud . “ Alicia . That ’ s the third time this week !” My sister , Alicia King and 18 . “ Davis ! What did you do !?” Alicia pointed to her clothes , bleached and stained . “ Nothing . Go ruin Jacks morning .” Jack is my younger brother , by a year and a half . He is my best friend and my only friend . I looked at the time . 7:19 . I ran downstairs , grabbed my bag and ran out the door . I ran down the street and to the bus stop . All the kids stared at me . Werwolves , ghosts , zombies , vampires . Living or dead , they all looked at me . The bus pulled up and we all got on . I sat alone until we pulled into the school parking lot . It was cloudy and humid . It was fall , schools had started about a month ago and it had turned my life into a living disaster . As the bus pulled in , I saw the MHS sigh . Monster High school . “ All are welcome .” The sign read . Yeah . Everyone except me .
I got off the bus and started to walk inside . I was almost at the door when I heard someone yell my name . I turned around . “ Collin . What ’ s up ? … J-Jack ! What are you doing here ?!” “ Let ’ s see . You forgot your lunch , I ’ m transferring to your school , you need your key …” Jack handed me a brown paper bag and a green key . “ Wait , you ’ re transferring to my school ?” “ Hold on , I ’ m not done . You deserve this .” I put my hands on his shoulders , showing him , I meant it . “ You work so hard . Also , don ’ t go to any more of Alicia ’ s family meetings .” “ She broke into my room when I was asleep and taped a note on my head .” “ Creepy .” A group of elves walked by dressed in their Lululemon and Gucci as they said , “ Hey Davis , did your mom send in your older brother to protect you ?” “ He ’ s my little brother .” I mumbled . “ Ha ! Davis needs his wittle brother to protect him .” The tallest kid shoved me . “ Leave him alone !” The kid walked up to Jack . “ What are you going to do about it ?
