Hi ! My name is Nicole Nelson . One early morning , I looked at my tiny white dog , Winter . Winter was a female rescue dog , whose mother got pulled away from her pups . Winter was the only pup that did not get taken . She was lost in the snow , and that ’ s why her name is Winter . My family had just moved from California to Florida . I was just starting sixth grade , but I didn ’ t want to because I did not want to leave Winter . Winter was my whole world . I have never been on vacation and was homeschooled my whole life . This was going to be my first time being away from Winter . I was SOOOOO nervous . I decided I was just going to call out sick and fool my mother . My dad passed away when I was 8 . My dad was my whole world too . My mother was calling , “ Nicole , dear , get ready for school ! You ’ re going to miss the bus !” And I answered , “ I don ’ t feel good ! Can I stay home today ?!”. Then I heard a loud creak . It was my mom . “ Honey , you can ’ t miss the first day of school , you will make a bad impression .” Mom said . I just rolled over . I was already dressed and had my school clothes on , but I did not want to go to school . “ I can ’ t leave Winter .” I said . “ I just can ’ t .”
Eventually , my mom made me go to school . It was this really big school , with windows on all the sides , and it had a HUMONGOUS playground with lots of swings . I was so scared to go inside . Then I saw kids fighting . That made me really nervous . I wanted Winter so badly . Winter would have barked at all the kids and make them scared of me . But sadly , Winter was not there . I stepped into the school and saw that it was actually very modern , and it smelled good . I looked at my agenda and saw my schedule . I had math , then social studies , science , PE , Spanish , English , art , and then last period was orchestra . I had always wanted to play the viola , but my mom couldn ’ t afford it . So , I was going to borrow one from the school . I was also excited for art because I really like drawing . I was actually thinking that this might be a good year . Maybe .
