Little Miracles Labor & Birth Deluxe This four-week, comprehensive labor and birth course is designed to educate expectant parents and increase a woman’s confidence in her ability to give birth. Content includes what to expect during labor and delivery, comfort strategies for coping with labor and guidance for making informed decisions about medical procedures. Breastfeeding Basics Discover how to get breastfeeding off to a good start during this 2½ hour class. Plus, learn how the body makes milk, positioning for feeding, identifying infant feeding cues, as well as information about pumping and storing milk if you’re returning to work. Grandparents’ Class If you’re a new grandparent or are about to become one, now is a great time to refresh your memory, learn updated information and recommended standards of care for infants and toddlers. Our childbirth educator guides you through what happens from the time you arrive at the hospital to delivery through your return home. It is a great first step in preparing for this special event and a perfect opportunity to get answers for your questions and concerns. Little Miracles Labor & Birth Basics This one-day class provides basic information about labor and birth preparation. Instruction focuses on essential information for you and your birth partner, including what to expect during labor and birth, techniques for coping with labor discomforts, medications and medical interventions. CPR: Family & Friends (Infant Only) Learn the lifesaving skills of infant Hands-Only CPR, CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an infant. This class is for participants who want to learn CPR but don’t need a course completion card in CPR for their job. Doula Program A doula is a birth professional who provides continuous physical and emotional support to the mother and her partner during labor, birth and the immediate postpartum period. During your visit, a specially trained Mount Carmel registered nurse will check your baby’s weight, umbilical cord, sleeping and eating habits. She will also examine you to make sure you’re recovering well and answer any questions. Newborn Care Prepare yourself and another caregiver for baby’s homecoming with information on newborn care, including techniques for bathing, diapering and feeding; parent-infant interaction; post-delivery emotions; as well as infant growth, development, safety, sleep needs and health issues. Pregnancy & Childbirth Online Class An easy-to-use online labor and birth course for expectant parents who cannot attend an onsite childbirth education class. Perfect for mothers on bed rest or parents on a tight schedule. Funding for the Doula and Welcome Home programs are made possible through generous donations to the Mount Carmel Foundation.
