Antiplatelet agents prevent blood clots in
the blood vessels. If you have had a PCI
or a stent inserted, these medicines help
to prevent clots from forming.
Antihypertensives
ACE (Angiotensin-Converting
Enzyme) Inhibitors
Some possible side effects may include
indigestion, nausea, vomiting, rash, or
diarrhea.

ACE inhibitors make the blood vessels
relax and expand. This allows the blood
to fl ow through the vessels with less
work on the heart. The heart does not
have to pump as hard. ACE inhibitors
reduce your risk of heart attack and even
reduce death from heart problems. They
also control blood pressure and protect
the kidneys in some conditions.

These drugs may cause a dry cough,
and you may want to tell your doctor
about this. ACE inhibitors can also cause
a rare but very serious condition called
angioedema. This is a swelling of the
lips, tongue, and throat. If this happens,
stop taking the medicine and call 911.

heart attacks by lowering cholesterol.

risk of heart attacks and death from heart
disease.
