Day of Surgery 1. Report to the Welcome Center in the Main Lobby at Mount Carmel Grove City. 2. You will have an ID band placed on your arm and be asked to confirm your name and date of birth. 3. Once registered and taken to the preoperative area you will need to sign a consent form for anesthesia and another for surgery. Do not sign these forms until all your questions have been answered. Please be sure to tell your physician and the anesthesiologist if you or any of your family members have had any problems with anesthesia in the past. Your anesthesiologist will review your medical and surgical record and ask you about any problems you may have had. 4. We will ask about any allergies you may have and place a band on your wrist if you do have any allergies. 5. An IV (intravenous) line will be placed in your arm. Surgery The length of your surgery will depend on the type of procedure you’re having. When you wake up, your throat may feel sore and your mouth may feel dry from the tube that was placed into your airway during surgery. You will stay in the recovery room for at least 1 hour.
