Sequencing the virus genome

A national project , led by Dr . Terry Snutch , UBC professor of psychiatry and Canada Research Chair in Biotechnology and Genomics-Neurobiology , aims to sequence up to 150,000 viral genomes isolated from people infected with COVID-19 to inform the development of therapies and vaccines . UBC ’ s Dr . Steven Jones , professor of medical genetics , and Dr . Marco Marra , professor and head of the department of medical genetics , and Dr . Richard Harrigan , professor of medicine , are helping to advance the sequencing efforts underway .
