Life Saving Station

Once located on the site of the current Lazy Loggerhead Restaurant in Carlin Park , this was the only U . S . Life Saving Station south of Charleston , S . C . Today , an historic marker identifies the location of the station , which operated from 1886 until 1896 under the command of Captain Charles Carlin .
